Sustainable Design

Jackson Street has been conceived as a model for "green" planning and design by engaging underutilized urban land, maximizing shade and reducing water runoff. The urban "heat island" effect will be minimized by reducing exposed paving and employing rooftop gardens. As an urban neighborhood, Jackson Streetís shared resources, public amenities, pedestrian accessibility and mass transit will promote a sustainable lifestyle that reduces residentsí dependence on automobiles. Additionally, all buildings will utilize the Sustainable Construction Practices required for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification.
